A claim may be filed on your Rhino security deposit insurance policy for loss of rent, which includes any unpaid amounts that may be due per the terms of your lease, or for any excessive wear and tear to the property that occurred during the lease. Our licensed claims adjusters will investigate each claim submitted by your landlord or property manager and review the supporting documentation before making a decision. As outlined in the Tenant Acknowledgement Agreement, if a claim on your Rhino policy is approved, you will be responsible for reimbursing the full dollar amount of the approved claim.
What is a claim?
While Rhino security deposit insurance replaces the need for a traditional cash security deposit, the tenant is still responsible for any charges associated with excessive wear and tear to the unit or unpaid amounts, such as unpaid rent or other unpaid fees that a tenant is responsible for per the terms of their lease. In either of these situations, the landlord or property manager will file a claim with Rhino and provide our licensed claim adjusters with the necessary documentation. If the claim is approved, Rhino will pay the approved claim amount to the landlord or property manager and recover the claim amount from the tenant.
How will I know if there is a claim filed against me?
If a claim is filed and found to be valid, Rhino will reach out to you (the tenant) via email with your claim details, including the amount due and a link to view your payment options. Rhino offers the option to pay in full, or pay-over-time options of 3, 6, and 12 months via credit or debit card.
You can also login to your Rhino account to see your claim details, add your payment method, and select a payment plan.
If you do not wish to pay online directly, or if you have questions about your claim, you can work with our recovery team at recovery@sayrhino.com
I don’t agree with the claim that has been filed. What can I do?
Our licensed claims adjusters approve claims based on the terms of your lease and supporting documentation provided by your landlord or property manager. If you believe that the claim should not have been approved, please reach out to us at recovery@sayrhino.com with any additional detail or documentation supporting your position, and our team will provide you with more information on next steps.
