Moving Out + Jetty Deposit

What steps should I take when a Jetty resident moves out?

  1. Follow your normal move-out process and document any damages with photos.
  2. Present your resident with their final bill, giving them the opportunity to pay any outstanding expenses for damages, rent, etc. directly (if full payment is received, no claim is necessary).
  3. If the resident does not pay you directly in the time frame allotted, head to partner.jetty.com and log in with your work email address to file a claim.
  4. Once you've filed a claim, do not accept payment from the resident directly. Have them respond to their adjuster's email or contact Jetty at partners@jetty.com to resolve their balance.
  5. We will review the claim and pay up to the full bond limit in 5 to 7 business days via check.

For the full claims filing process once you're in the Partner Portal — including the Certificate ID, required documents, and claim status tracking — see the Filing and Managing Claims with Jetty article.

What is the first step to follow when a resident who purchased Jetty moves out of your community?

First, follow your normal move-out process and document any damages with photos.

Next, send the resident their final account statement detailing any damages, owed rent, owed utilities, and general move-out costs — just as you would if they had put down a traditional refundable deposit.

Remember that with Jetty, the resident is still responsible for treating their unit with care and leaving the community in good financial standing, as with a refundable deposit.

How long do you give the resident to pay their final account statement?

Stick with how long you would normally give a resident to pay an outstanding balance. We recommend a 10 to 30 day repayment window.

Please note that the property should only file a claim after giving the resident time to directly repay the full amount owed as represented on the move-out statement.

What if the resident doesn't pay the balance owed?

If the resident doesn't pay, simply head to partner.jetty.com and log in with your work email address to file a claim with us.

On the claims form, we will walk you through what information to include about the resident and community, and ask you to attach the lease and final account statement, descriptions and photos of damage if applicable. It shouldn't take more than 10 minutes of your time.

If you accidentally submit incorrect information, simply respond to the confirmation email you received with the corrected information.
